The Juniper Tree - devised storytelling solo piece
Critical Review Of The Piece
Juniper Tree Script
This was a fine piece of work that showed a clear understanding and mastery of your chosen form of performative storytelling and its conventions, and you did an excellent job of combining the telling of the story and the acting out of particular moments.

One moment that was especially powerful was the use of the apples to show the stepmotherā€™s dismemberment and cooking of her stepson into a stew.

Another was in the performance of the juniper tree itself. The minimalist aesthetic used here and throughout made the story very powerful indeed.

You also demonstrated an excellent use of space by establishing a box of action that cannot really contain the action, but rather gives its layers of reality as you sometimes step out of the box.

The use of the apples as the key prop was exceptionally vivid and yet so simple. The multiple voices you used, especially in the singing of the song gave nuance to the piece.
